Thomas Brew was a 21 year old, unmarried fellmonger of Ballarat when he enlisted on 8th September 1914. He had been born at Southport, UK. He was posted to the 2nd Infantry Battalion. He was promoted to Lieutenant and awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for outstanding bravery at Hermies, France. He was killed in action at Broodseinde, Belgium, on 4th July 1917. He is buried in the Oxford Road Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium.
