Biography

Arthur Robert Gabriel (SN 2261) born at Bolwarrah, near Ballarat, joined the Tingarra in Sydney on October 23rd 1912 aged 14 years. He was posted to numerous ships, the main one being the Australia and obtained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After 34 years in the RAN he was discharged on December 31st 1946. Arthur died in 1974 and his ashes interred in the Garden of Remembrance, Rookwood, N.S.W.

Two of his his brothers Allan and Vivian also served and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
