Biography

Allan Falla (SN 1943) born at Talbot, was a 35 year old traveller, married with two children, when he enlisted in Geelong on September 30th 1914. Assigned to the 5th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Hororata on April 17th 1915. He sailed to Egypt then to Gallipoli where he saw action for two months before illness forced his evacuation. Back in Egypt he was transferred to the 57th Battalion with whom he moved to France in June 1916. During his service he was found to be absent without leave on several occasions, but his major issue was an accidental bomb wound in July 1917 that caused severe injury to his neck. He was returned to Australia on the Ulysses, disembarked on November 13th 1917 and was discharged as ‘medically unfit’ on December 19th.
