Clifford Falla (SN 2649) born in Castlemaine, was a 19 year old blacksmith living in Ballarat when he enlisted on July 12th 1915. Assigned to the 21st Battalion his unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the Moldavia on October 5th1915. In February 1916 he was transferred to the Camel Corps, then later to the 1st Anzac Battalion, Imperial Camel Brigade. He remained in Egypt and in July 1918 he was transferred to the 14th Light Horse Regiment with whom he served out the remaining months of the war. He returned home on the Margha and disembarked at Melbourne on March 5th 1919 and was discharged on May 22nd.

His brother Murdock and cousin Allan also served in the AIF are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
