Sydney Bawtree Webb (SN 12425) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old bank clerk when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 22nd 1915. He trained primarily with the Australian Medical Corps in Melbourne until he embarked for overseas service on May 27th 1916. In November he reached France to serve with the 10th Field Ambulance. He completed his service without significant injury or illness and returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff aboard the Kanowna. He reached Melbourne on October 23rd 1919 and was discharged on December 23rd. He served again in WW2 with service number VX40834.
His brothers George and Francis also served in the AIF and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
