Biography

George Bawtree Webb described himself as a farmer and a clerk when he enlisted in Ballarat on the26th September1914. He was born in Ballarat, was 32 and a bachelor. He was posted to the 21st Infantry Battalion with Regimental No 2056. Later he saw service with the 14th Infantry Battalion, and the 2nd Pioneer Battalion. On 1st August 1916 he was killed in action at Poziere. and is buried in the Gordon Dump Cemetery, Somme, France.
