William Clive Eddy (SN 5589) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old labourer when he enlisted at Cootamundra NSW on April 10th 1916. He embarked from Sydney aboard the Euripides on September 9th and sailed to England to serve with the 18th Infantry Battalion. He reached the battlefields of France in December and suffered a severe gunshot wound to his arm in May 1917. Once recovered, he was transferred to the Medical Corps and served at hospitals in England. He returned to Australia aboard the Plassy, disembarked at Melbourne on October 25th 1919 and was discharged on December 9th.
His father Samuel Sr and his brother Samuel Jr also served in the AIF and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
