Biography

James Ferguson Boyce (SN 2678) was born at Burrumbeet but was a 38 year old engineer at the Phoenix Foundry when he enlisted in May 1917. He trained at Broadmeadows and Seymour before being posted to the Australian Flying Corps as an Air Mechanic. He sailed from Australia on February 28th 1918 aboard the Nestor and served in England until the war ended. He returned to Australia in mid 1919.

His brothers Bertram (killed in action) and Richard also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
