Conrad Jacob Mars (SN 7535) born at Guildford Victoria, was a 30 year old labourer when he enlisted at Seymour on July 6th 1917. On August 4th he embarked aboard the Themistocles destined to serve with the 6th Infantry Battalion. After further training in England he reached France in February 1918 and managed to serve out the final year of the war without major incident. He returned home aboard the Persic, disembarked on August 29th 1919 and was discharged on September 28th.
His brother Stanley was killed in action on April 27th 1915 and brother Arthur also served in the AIF and they are honoured with trees in the Avenue. Also his step-brothers Frederick, Valentine, and John Stradling also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
