Biography

Born in Ballarat, Frederick William Lamont was a married 32 year old wood machinist at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 7th of October 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A7 Medic on the 16th of December 1916.
On the 31st of August 1918, Frederick was wounded in action. He was invalided to England on the 10th of September 1918, where he was admitted on the 11th of September to the 2nd Southern General Hospital in Bristol, England with gunshot wounds to his left shoulder and right hip.
He returned to Australia on the 2nd of March 1919 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 1st of April 1919.
