Biography

Alfred Edward Moore (SN 2617) born at Allendale, was a 19 year old van driver when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 14th 1915. He embarked from Melbourne aboard the Anchises on March 14th 1916 and joined the 29th Infantry Battalion in France in August. He managed to avoid battle wounds but was troubled by a middle ear infection which eventually rendered him unfit for active service. He was returned home aboard the Essex, disembarked at Melbourne on August 1st 1918 and was discharged medically unfit on October 22nd.

His brothers Charles and Joseph also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
