Charles William Moore was born at Allendale near Creswick approx 35 kms North of Ballarat. He was a Labourer, 24 years of age, single and enlisted on the 10 February 1916 in Melbourne, Victoria. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A34 Persic on 3 June 1916. From Southampton, England proceeded to France for action on 22/11/16 he was promoted to Lance Corporal 8/6/17. He was wounded in action 12/10/17 and rejoined battalion from hospital 3/12/17. Returned to Australia 7 February 1919.
