Frederick James Pinney enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria, at the age of 20 on the 9th of July 1915. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Watchmaker. He volunteered and was stationed with the 14th Battalion, 13th Reinforcement with the Regimental number 4281. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 5th April 1919. Tree No. 3247.
