Biography

Cyril Augustine Webb (SN 6643) was the first of the Webb brothers to enlist when, as a 23 year old labourer, he enlisted in Melbourne on July 19th 1915. He trained in Melbourne until he embarked aboard the Nestor on October 2nd 1916. He joined the 6th Infantry Battalion in France in April 1917. He was wounded in action in April 1918 when he suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg and was evacuated to hospital. He was unable to rejoin his unit but did record a few discipline breaches. After the war he returned aboard the Port Darwin, disembarked at Melbourne on July 27th 1919 and was discharged on September 3rd.

His brothers John and Roy also served in the AIF and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
