Biography

Roy Augustine Webb (SN 10331) born in Ballarat, was a 20 year old labourer when he enlisted in Melbourne on September 27th 1915. On April 4th he embarked aboard the Euripides and sailed to England before reaching France in November 1916 to serve with the 5th Field Ambulance. He avoided battle wounds, but service record tells of a 60 day hospital absence plus three accounts of being absent without leave. He was a member of the nursing staff aboard the Port Darwin for his return to Australia after the war. He disembarked at Melbourne on July 27th 1919 and was discharged on September 10th.

His brothers Cyril and John also served in the AIF and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
