Llewellyn Cedric Llewellyn (SN 2857) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old clerk when he enlisted in Melbourne on June 29th 1915. On September 10th he embarked aboard the Star of Victoria and sailed to Egypt where he joined the 59th Infantry Battalion. He was later transferred to the 5th Division Signal Company with whom he served in France from June 1916. He was able to serve through the war without significant illness or injury and returned home aboard the Kildonian Castle. He disembarked at Melbourne on May 7th 1919 and was discharged on June 29th.

His brother Eric, and his sister Daisie also served in the AIF and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as L. Cedric Llewellyn.
