Biography

Roland George Davey (SN 1669) was a 19 year old, unmarried grocer from Ballarat when he enlisted on January 4th, 1915. He left Melbourne on the Runic in February and was posted to Gallipoli with the 14th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action on August 27th 1915 and is buried in Embarkation Pier Cemetery, Gallipoli.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as George R. Davey.
