Hugh Roy Rodger (SN 68855) born at Ballarat, was a 22 year old carpenter when he enlisted in Melbourne on August 1st 1918. With the 15th General Service Reinforcements, he embarked from Adelaide on October 22nd aboard the Boonah, but with the signing of the Armistice on November 11th the Boonah was recalled and he was discharged on February 5th 1919. He also served in WW2 with the service number CV77139.

His brother William, and his sisters Elonie and Margaret also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Roy H. Rodger.
