Biography

Harold Parker Jones (SN 3180) born at Ballarat, was a 23 year old bank clerk when he enlisted in Melbourne on January 10th 1916. Assigned to the 57th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Medic on December 16th and sailed to England. In May 1917 he joined his unit in France and served there until recalled to England in June 1918 to undertake officer training. He was appointed as a 2nd Lieutenant in January then promoted to Lieutenant in April. He returned to Australia aboard the Demosthenes, disembarked on September 14th 1919 and his appointment was terminated on October 22nd.

His brother Norman and half brother Oswald also served in the AIF and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
