Biography

Leslie Scott (SN 6321) born at Ballarat, was a 30 year old farmer when he enlisted at Ballarat on May 26th 1915. He embarked aboard the Nestor on October 11th assigned to the 6th Field Ambulance. He was deployed to Gallipoli just days before the Gallipoli evacuation was completed. In March 1916 he was moved to France. During his time there he was nominally transferred to the 2nd Motor Transport Company but was allowed to remain as a driver with the 6th then 8th Field Ambulance. At the war’s end he was returned to Australia aboard the Borda, disembarked at Melbourne on June 27th 1919 and was discharged on August 19th.

His brother Alan was killed in action in April 1918 and is also honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
