Henry Francis Wilson (SN 3967) born in Ballarat, was a 25 year old train driver when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 12th 1915. He embarked aboard the Ceramic on November 23rd , first to Egypt and then to France in June 1916 to serve with the 46th Infantry Battalion. In November he was wounded in action suffering a head wound, and evacuated to England. He rejoined his unit in February 1917. At war’s end he returned to Australia aboard the Armagh, disembarked at Melbourne on May 18th and was discharged on July 10th.
His brothers Alfred and Willie also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
