Biography

Annie Maynard Westcott (Smith) was born in Leigh Creek, VIC and was a Nurse by trade when she enlisted in the First Australian General Hospital, Special Reinforcements on 5 November 1915 at the age of 40. Her unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A67 Orsova on 12 November 1915. She served as a Staff Nurse at the 1st Australian General Hospital in Cairo until January 1916 when she left Suez as a nurse on the Commonwealth, and disembarked in Melbourne on February 29th. Her appointment with the AANS was terminated in February 1917.
