Ivo Leslie Fishwick (SN 2994 ) born in Ballarat, was a married 26 year old drover and horse breaker when he enlisted in Melbourne on May 19th 1916. He embarked aboard the Clan MacCorquodale on September 19th and sailed to Egypt for service with the 8th Light Horse Regiment. He hadn’t been there long before he was charged with assaulting another soldier. His service was marked by frequent interruptions due to illness and occasional discipline issues. He returned to Australia aboard the Port Darwin, disembarked at Melbourne on August 17th 1918 and was discharged on September 28th ‘medically unfit, chronic dysentery’.
His brothers Septimus, Richard and Jack also served in the AIF and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
