Biography

Thomas Edgar Yates (SN 10336) was a 20 year old motor driver when he enlisted on September 10th 1915. He embarked on the Euripides in April 1916 and served in England until late 1917 with the 6th and 15th Training Battalions and the Australian Army Medical Corps. In November 1917 he was transferred to the 4th Field Ambulance in France where served out the final year of the war without major illness or injury. He returned to Australia aboard the Orita, disembarking at Melbourne on August 6th 1919.
Thomas Yates died November 1969 at Heidelberg, Victoria.

His three brothers, Arthur, Harold, George also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
