Biography

Frank Davis (SN 4954) was born in Ballarat and was educated at the Golden Point State School. He was a 19 year old battery feeder when he enlisted on July 8th 1915. He left Melbourne on board the Anchises in March 1916. He was posted to France in September and transferred to the 14th Battalion at the beginning of 1917. Promoted to Corporal in June, he was wounded in action a couple of months later. He rejoined his unit at the start of September but was killed in action in Polygon Wood on September 27th 1917. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
